President's Message:

Margaret said this so well that I find it hard to improve on.  So with her permission, I’d like to use most of her message.  Thank you, Margaret.  Our purpose is to provide a guide for retired member so they can continue a life of service to family, colleagues, communities, and students of all ages.

As educators we have spent our lives stimulating and nurturing the minds of our students and have embraced a lifestyle of curiosity and inquiry.  Retirement from a formal career in education doe not mean that this urge to learn and share our insights disappears.  OREA can help you find ways to exercise you expertise and passion for learning and education.

As we continue efforts to maintain and extend Brain health, we are moving to a new drive to “Create The Good” with programs already written and available to all units.

All education retirees are invited to OREA.  Our membership includes, teachers, administrators, classified staff, and all who have an interest in education.  There are fourteen active Units in Oregon ; local units established their own dues ($20 to $30 per year) and hold monthly meetings.  There are AMBA benefits you may benefit from as a member. You are warmly invited to contact us for more information and to find a Unit near your home.  If you are not accessible to a unit, recruit people in your area and start a new unit.  We’ll help you in any way.

Sincerely,
Glenna Sams, President
Oregon Retired Educators Association
